Dan Kirk's tale of Danny the new preacher's son and his collision with Eddie, the far from pleasant local and his still less pleasant father is set against a sub plot of an old family discord that rises to the surface. Ten well written chapters explore the relationships and roles of the various members of both families, but particularly Eddie's, and the boundaries between bigotry, ignorance, tolerance and acceptance.
