A Message from the Author
What you are about to read is the result of my desire to read something different. Yes, this story was actually born because I wanted something fresh, something with a theme or plot I hadn’t read before. When I couldn’t find that story I was looking for, I decided to write it. That desire to read gave birth to my writing Charlie -

His school is perfect. His family is perfect. Everything in his life is perfect.

Everything except Charlie.

Two boys, by Rocco Paperiello

At one hundred and four chapters, this is a fairly substantial novel, although the chapters are fairly short.
This is story of the love between a black boy and a white boy, between a poor boy and a middle class boy and in a way strange way about a straight boy and a gay boy. More than those though, this is a story about prejudice. Not so much the cruel hatred and and violence for which some of the US is so well known, but the pettiness and thoughtlessness of dislike and ignorance of which there is still far to much around in the world today.

Unbreakable Faith, By VLista

Ian is a fifteen year old, socially isolated, orphan who can never seem to make his adopted parents happy. His guardians, an abusive Pentecostal reverend and his wife, force Ian to live in an oppressive, chaotic world, but all that is about to change when he is suddenly forced from the only world he knows. Can he learn to think for himself in a modern world?
W A R N I N G
Parts of this story are exceptionally violent and contain an extreme depiction of radical Christianity at its worst. It should not be read by people who are faint of heart, or by people who wish to continue to live in their delusion that child abuse does not happen. It does. It happens everywhere, everyday, and in some cases by the people you would lease suspect.

The Bully, By Dan Kirk

Everyone in town knows him as the Bully. In his senior year, change comes to town for the Bully of Silver Valley, but who will really change?
Dan Kirk's tale of Danny the new preacher's son and his collision with Eddie, the far from pleasant local and his still less pleasant father is set against a sub plot of an old family discord that rises to the surface. Ten well written chapters explore the relationships and roles of the various members of both families, but particularly Eddie's, and the boundaries between bigotry, ignorance, tolerance and acceptance.
Genre: Fiction/Drama/Romance
Rate: 4/5

Tim, by Cole Parker

Tim, a withdrawn and unhappy sixteen year old boy, new to his school and with an apparently traumatic history in the town he and his father have moved from. Befriended by a kind and perceptive age-mate at school, Tim eventually risks lowering his guard and revealing the disturbing events that have so affected him and made him so wary of the care of others.
Tim's voice and concerns feel real and genuine and often humourous. His friends and his family are authentic and believeable throughout both good and bad times. The story as a whole raises issues and reflects Cole Parker's patient and essentially positive view of the lives of young people.

The Nexus, by David Clarke

The 17 chapters document the adventures of Jake Stone as he leaves the world of a disillusioning french exchange trip for a series of parallel world where he finds love, sex and the real value of friendship as he gathers comrades for company.
The story is dreamy and very idealistic, but that's what escapism is all about.
Genre: Sci-fi/fantasy. Romance/Adventure
Length: 17 chapters

The Wish Gee Whillicker

Craig is a boy on his own in a world where there are no people left. How he got there and what happens to him is the story, and the universe does get saved!
Definitely a story for younger readers, although that doesn't of course mean that older ones can't or won't enjoy it it too. Craig's adventures are very much the fantasy of a lonely boy searching for some kind of place and recognition in his world, like all teenage boys I suppose, but you'll see what I mean if you read it.
It would be hard not to draw comparisons between this tale and ' the nexus' another story I plan to review here. The two have a similar feel, but there is much less sex in this tale, indeed the fact that Craig is gay is a minor element in the plot, but enjoyers of one will probably enjoy the other.
Genre: Sci-fp/fantasy. Adventure/gay/teen
